Steven M. Miller served on the board of the American Society for Acoustic Ecology (ASAE), for which he was the founding Vice President. The ASAE is the United States affiliate of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology (WFAE), for which he also served on the board as the ASAE representative.
To quote from the ASAE website, "the ASAE is a membership organization dedicated to exploring the role of sound in natural habitats and human societies, and promoting public dialogue concerning the identification, preservation, and restoration of natural and cultural sound environments.”
